Wedding Gowns

What is your body shape?

Hello There! Thank you for visiting!

I have created this page to help brides-to-be know their shape before going out to purchase their wedding gown. Many have asked me, "How do I know what type of dress to purchase based on my body shape?"

Well, first, you need to know that there is no such thing as the "perfect" body! We were all created with the perfect curves that accentuates your body shape. But, of course, you do need to know your body shape in order to have a better understanding of what wedding gown would suit your shape the best. Hugging you in all the right places to make you standout on your wedding day.

How do you figure out your body shape?

1) The best way to determine your shape is to stand in front of a mirror in your underwear, tie your hair back and preferably grab a friend who can give you a second opinion. (Tip: Make sure you and the mirror are both standing up straight. Tilting can give a distorted shape.)

2) Observe the relationship between your shoulders, waist and hips.

Note: I have outlined below what features each shape possesses. Please remember that not everyone will fall into one of the below categories. This is just a guide. Note, some women possess traits from more than one shape listed below. If weight is gained or lost, there may be a change in shape as well.

In some cases, body shapes are inherited which means that you might have a similar shape to your mother's, grandmother's, sisters' and so on. Although, some women are unique and show no similarities, it is still worth it to look at your immediate family and taking note of their shapes.

Remember that another figure-flattering trick is to draping and strategically placing embellishments which will accentuate your waist and also help hide a multitude of imperfections.

APPLE SHAPED CELEBRITIES

Apple identifiers: Fuller around the mid-section of the body. Usually larger bust, broader shoulders and flat bum. If you gain weight it shows up on your belly and upper body. The waist is not defined.

As an apple shaped woman, your fashion goal is to emphasize your strong points which are your bust and legs, and camouflage your weaker one which is your midsection.

Note: Criss-cross draping gowns makes your chest look smaller and focuses attention on the slimmest part of your waist. Or, consider adding a bow on your waist to camouflage the tummy.
